June work

Our Bulgarian friend Ellie owns and runs this lovely bar in our local town, San Pedro de Alcantara. She has sold it and is leaving in July, so I painted this for her of the bar.
This is the  biggest painting I have undertaken to date. It is a half imperial (15" x 22") in size and took days and days, and I lost heart part way through and almost gave it up.
Here is the first of the set of three "women with baskets/bowls" I have done. I used cotton board with watercolour, a bit tricky but worth the effort.

And now three cottages. This one is an Irish thatched cottage done from a photo from the internet.

These three are also done on cotton board.
This cottage is from one of my photos of a house on Newbury Street in the town of Whitchurch, Hampshire where I used to live
And the final one is a thatched cottage in Micheldever, near Whitchurch. Roger took the photo a couple of years ago.

I have a "thing" about windmills. These two are done in gouache

And now a small canvas using acrylics. I can see the attraction of this medium, but my heart is in watercolour.

Another thatch. Some of these paintings are going into a charity sale in July.
I have re done this Portugese light house and it is now more true to the photo. However, I am not sure if it is finished yet !!
This Spanish shack was fun to paint. There are many of these dotted around the countryside here.
