Here are some of the paintings I have done this summer.

At a Tim Fisher workshop, line and wash

At Blakeney, at a landscape workshop "en plein air", tutor Merrie Curtiss-Fuller

A diptych (without the hinge !! ) not my usual style of work, but thought a change might be in order

At Merrie's landscape workshop, this time at Brancaster Staithe

And again out with Merrie, also at Brancaster Staithe

At Merrie's weeklong class at Wensum Lodge, Norwich, "Painting from Photos"

A member of Merrie's class, Deb, who kindly sat for me

At a Marilyn Allis workshop in July

Wonderful colours - also at a Marilyn Allis workshop in July

This kingfisher done on cotton board is from a photograph by Annie Kerridge, friend and acclaimed photographer

June work

Our Bulgarian friend Ellie owns and runs this lovely bar in our local town, San Pedro de Alcantara. She has sold it and is leaving in July, so I painted this for her of the bar.
This is the  biggest painting I have undertaken to date. It is a half imperial (15" x 22") in size and took days and days, and I lost heart part way through and almost gave it up.
Here is the first of the set of three "women with baskets/bowls" I have done. I used cotton board with watercolour, a bit tricky but worth the effort.

And now three cottages. This one is an Irish thatched cottage done from a photo from the internet.

These three are also done on cotton board.
This cottage is from one of my photos of a house on Newbury Street in the town of Whitchurch, Hampshire where I used to live
And the final one is a thatched cottage in Micheldever, near Whitchurch. Roger took the photo a couple of years ago.

I have a "thing" about windmills. These two are done in gouache

And now a small canvas using acrylics. I can see the attraction of this medium, but my heart is in watercolour.

Another thatch. Some of these paintings are going into a charity sale in July.
I have re done this Portugese light house and it is now more true to the photo. However, I am not sure if it is finished yet !!
This Spanish shack was fun to paint. There are many of these dotted around the countryside here.

May 2014

Since returning to Spain in early May, my brushes have had no rest.

Liked this photo, so had a go.
Same photo, but I mowed the grass, cleared up the front of the small cottage, knocked down the dry stone walls, planted a tree, then put my bike against the wall and went into the house for a cup of tea.
Painted this in card size for a friend's birthday

Second attempt at these cuties, from a photo in a National Geographic magazine.

Bits and Pieces

My beloved cat Chloe
Cobweb done on elephant dung paper. Just like trying to paint on kitchen roll - impossible.
I bought the elephant dung paper in Sri Lanka, at the elephant orphanage there. All the other sheets of paper sit uselessly gathering cobwebs !!
Saw this photo on the internet and could not resist painting it

Lavender fields from a photo. I liked it so much I have it framed on the wall
I used wet paint and cling film for the background

This is one of my all time favourites.

Just doodling

A hoopoe from the terrace in Spain

The flowers are finished

"Artist" ( ha ha ) at work

Monday art group,  en el campo circa de Estepona

At "Art in the Park" near Benahavis, a few km from home in Spain, a twice yearly event when we painted, this particular day, a very old pretty coloured church.
At work on the terrace, with my back to the sea, but painting a Gibraltar view

This time facing the Mediterranean Sea which is such a beautiful distraction. There are hoopoes in the garden - the bird on the right of the picture
